Arthur Duff

Arthur Nelson Duff, 92, of Denison, Iowa, and formerly of Anita, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 25, 2018, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.

Art was born February 24, 1926, in Silver City, Iowa, to Robert Nelson and Effie Mae (Wilson) Duff. The family moved to rural Anita, Iowa, in 1940, where Art graduated from the Anita High School.

On August 14, 1946, he married Willadean Carr in Hiawatha, Kansas. Art served in the U.S.Army during WWII and was stationed stateside in Kansas.

He was employed by the U.S. Post Office in Anita from 1948 until December 31, 1972. He also farmed a little north of Anita and mowed the airport and park for many years. He and Willadean moved to Denison in 2013 to be closer to family.

He worked on and collected antique cars, mostly model As, was interested in genealogy and the Legion was very important to him.

Art was a member of the American Legion Post 210, the Anita Masonic Lodge, Anita Obedience Lodge 380, was a volunteer for the Anita Fire Department for many years, was a 51 year member of the Veterans Widows and Children’s Benefit, and transported people to the VA Hospital for doctor appointments.

Preceding Art in death were his parents; sister-in-law, Evalynne Duff; daughter-in-law, Angela Duff; brother, Lee Duff; and brothers-in-law, Marvin Scholl and Neil Turner.

Those surviving Art is his wife of 71 years, Willadean Duff of Denison; sons, Gary A. (Connie) Duff of Williams, AZ and Ronald D. Duff of Schleswig, IA; grandchildren, Gary (Dawn) Duff Jr of Phoenix, AZ, Tamera Duff of Prescott, AZ, Jill (Brad) Lufkin of Johnston, IA, Kelsey (Andy) Hipnar of Denison, IA and Andrew (Courtney) Duff of Mason City, IA; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Turner of Panora, IA.

Visitation with family will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa .

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 29, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Anita.
