Mrs. Betty Lucille Obermeier, age 92, of Audubon, IA, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2026, at MJ Estates Assisted Living in Exira, IA.
Betty Lucille Obermeier was born in Audubon, Iowa, on April 14, 1934. A daughter of William and Leona (Sonksen) Deist. She attended Audubon Schools, graduating with the class of 1953. On November 24, 1956, Betty was united in marriage to Frank August Obermeier at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. Together, they raised 5 children.
Betty was a lifelong member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. In addition to being a farm wife helping with chores and raising children, she also worked as a bartender at various venues. Betty was an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed visiting New Hope to thrift and loved shopping for shoes. She had a special fondness for anything purple. After retiring with Frank, they traveled frequently to Branson and cherished family moments. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. As a two-time cancer survivor, she prioritized her quality of life.
Betty is preceded in death by her Husband, Frank; Son, Paul Obermeier; Parents, William and Leona Deist; Brother-in-law, Bernie Owen; Sister and brothers-in-law, Jeanette and Delmas Shrum, Don and Bev Obermeier, LeRoy and Jean Obermeier, LaVern and Rosalie Obermeier, Harry Williamsen.
Betty is survived by her Children: Dennis (Jodi) Deist of Audubon, Pam (Quinn) Kelly of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Peggy Obermeier and special friend Stan Weihs both of Audubon, Patrick “Pat” (Bridget) Obermeier of Audubon; Her grandchildren: Derek (Genelle) Deist of Audubon, Jackie Deist and Special friend Aaron Eddy of Audubon, Diana (Tyler) Marr of Council Bluffs, Kris (Ashley) Obermeier of Audubon, Brooke (Brian) Klocke of Audubon, Brittni (Cody) Williams of Audubon, Kyra (Jake) Williams of Audubon, Sydney Obermeier and fiancé Ben Kingery of Stuart; Her great-grandchildren: Jackson Deist, Eli Deist, Oliver Deist, Gable Karns, Grayson Karns, AJ Marr, Dylan Obermeier, Alexis Obermeier and fiancé Harvey Ludington, Karter Obermeier, Madison Obermeier, Baylor Klocke, Briar Klocke, Brekyn Klocke, Ryker Williams, Bennett Williams, Koen Williams, Weston Williams, Maverick Williams, Peyton Williams; Her sister, Bessie Owen of Audubon; Her sister-in-law, Darlene Williamsen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon, IA, with Rev. Sheryl Puderbaugh officiating the service. Interment will take place at Maple Grove following the funeral. A luncheon will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Church following the committal.
Public visitation with the family will be held at the church on Thursday, prior to the funeral, starting at 9:30 a.m.
