Betty Poulsen

Mrs. Betty Joan Bjorn Poulsen, the daughter of Anders and Thelma (Bartlett) Bjorn, was born July 11, 1930, in Brayton, Iowa, and died at the age of 94 on May 28, 2025, at the Audubon Friendship Home.

Betty graduated from Exira High School in 1948. On November 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to Harvey Poulsen at Oak Hill Lutheran Church, outside of Brayton, Iowa.

Betty was a homemaker, while Harvey farmed in Audubon County. Over the years, she was active at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and with her children’s 4-H clubs. Later, she and Harvey were custodians at Our Saviour’s Lutheran for over 14 years.

Preceding her in death is her husband Harvey Poulsen; son John Poulsen; son-in-law Todd Fisher; great grandson Jacob Poulsen; her sisters Barbara Lensch and Elaine Landon; her brothers Paul Bjorn, Bill Bjorn, Dick Bjorn and Gary Bjorn; and her sisters-in law & brothers-in-law Barb Bjorn, Buel Lensch, Bob McCollough, David Diehl, Harvey & Carrie Poulsen and Orville Poulsen.

Survivors include daughters Pamela and husband Robert Jensen & Penny Fisher; grandchildren Stephanie and husband Joe Hughes, Jeremy Jensen, Meredith and husband Billy Frisbey, Nicholas and wife Jamie Jensen, Clinton Poulsen and fiancée Angie Creamer, Ashley Poulsen, Cortney Poulsen, Jordan and wife Jessica Poulsen, Tyler and wife Lindsey Fisher, Austin Fisher and fiancée Natalie Leeper; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren, sisters Jeanette McCollough and Karen Diehl; sister-in-law Sandy Bjorn; daughter-in-law Nancy Poulsen; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Audubon, IA, with a committal to follow at Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon. Following the committal in the Fellowship Hall of the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, a luncheon will be held.

Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the funeral and also at the church on Wednesday.

The casket bearers will be grandsons, Jeremy Jensen, Nicholas Jensen, Clinton Poulsen, Jordan Poulsen, Tyler Fisher and Austin Fisher.
