Bonnie Mccaskey

March 19, 1917 — January 8, 2016

Bonnie Gissible McCaskey, 98, of Atlantic, Iowa, formerly of Anita, Iowa, passed away Friday, January 8, 2016, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Bonnie was born March 19, 1917, in Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Grace (Coyle) Cole. In November, 1934, she married Melvin Gissible. They farmed in the Anita area until Melvin's death in 1976. She was married to Herschel McCaskey in 1980; Herschel passed away in 1996. Bonnie lived in Anita until she moved to the Heritage House in 2012.

Bonnie enjoyed her involvement in several organizations. For many years she was active in 4-H as a leader and judge. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She served in many capacities with the United Methodist Church in Anita. She also enjoyed serving on the Atlantic Hospital Auxiliary Board for many years.

Bonnie was an avid bowler, a beautiful seamstress, embroider and quilter. It was a great joy for her to travel with family throughout the states, as well as abroad.

Bonnie has three daughters; Lois Chopard of Ankeny, IA, Leona Harris of Hurricane, UT and Sharon (Laurie) Lee of Belmont, CA; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Bob Cole of Fresno, CA; sister-in-law, Evelyn Cole of Altoona, IA; niece, Grace Mackrill of Adair, IA; and many others.

Visitation is from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., with an Order of Eastern Star service at 5:30 p.m., on Monday, January 11, 2016, at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Anita, Iowa.

Funeral services are at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Anita, Iowa, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Anita.
