Bruce G. Ohms, 65, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, at his home in Anita, Iowa.

Bruce was born December 10, 1952, in Washington, Iowa, to Dewey Nicholas and Marilyn Joann (Gibson) Ohms.

He graduated from the Anita High School in 1971. He then attended Iowa State University and graduated in 1975. Bruce joined the United States Navy in 1975 and was discharged in 1982, reaching the rank of a Commissioned Lieutenant. After his discharge from the Navy, he returned to Iowa State where he earned two more degrees.

Bruce was an accountant and auditor for Cargill. As a result of his job, Bruce lived in a number of different cities in the United States and Japan.

He enjoyed reading, politics, history, especially Danish history and Danish genealogy. He was also a big Iowa State fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Marilyn Ohms, and a brother-in-law, Mark Brown.

Bruce is survived by his sisters, Linda (Ed) Heaton of Nevis, MN, Nancy Brown of Anita, IA, and Tina (Mark) Steffens of Solon, IA; a brother, Gary (Lori) Ohms of Anita, IA; nieces and nephews, Sandra (Mark) Cullen of Boone, IA, Sara (Shawn) Maas of Anita, IA, Jennie (Kleven) Bingham of Longmont, CO, Jessie (Brian) Meyer of Anita, IA, Josh (Samantha) Brown of Anita, IA, Nathan (Katie) Ohms of Perry, IA, Matthew (Carrie) Ohms of Anita, IA, Travis (Chabree) Ohms of Davenport, IA, Nicole (Jordan) Inman of Corning, IA and Ryan (Michelle) Steffens of Cedar Rapids, IA; many great-nieces, great-nephews; aunts, uncles, and other relatives.

Visitation with family will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 31, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care in Anita, Iowa.

Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to family’s wishes to be designated at a later date.
