Brynley Rae Lank, age 12, of Atlantic, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Cass Health in Atlantic.
Brynley was born in Atlantic, IA, on July 27, 2013. From the moment she arrived, she's been a spunky, lively girl – a nickname her family gave her when she was younger was “Bam Bam”. She's the pride and joy of her parents, Lyssa Lank and Jeremiah Johnson.
Everyone who knew Brynley remembered her as a bright and caring young girl who was always looking out for others and wanted to be friends with everyone. She had a way of making you laugh that was all her own. Thanks to her uncle Kyle, Brynley learned how to ride her pink dirt bike, which she got from her grandpa, on most Saturdays. She was an ambitious girl who loved to learn and achieve her goals. She took great pride in her accomplishments at school, and she even taught herself to ride her longboard skateboard. Brynley loved playing volleyball, spending time in the rain, and hanging out with her big sister, Bailey, and cousin, Emma. After one of her volleyball games, she told her dad, Jeremiah, that she had a dream of playing college volleyball – and her serves were really impressive.
Her favorite colors are purple and black. She also loved Converse shoes, and thanks to her aunt Paige, she's always tried to “Nab” her aunt's shoes, even if they're too small! She enjoyed Hello Kitty apparel. Brynley made sure everyone around her was keeping up with the latest slang or lingo. And by the time you learned “Slay Girl Slay” or “The Silence is so loud” or “Bruh,” you were already too late. She was Grandpa's “little grocery grabber,” and yet she was the one who would always pester and make her brother mad. Brynley gave the best hugs; her Aunt Paige can contest to that.
Brynley is survived by her mother, Lyssa; her father, Jeremiah; her sister, Bailey; her brother, Bentley; her aunt, Paige; her uncle, Kyle; her cousins, Emma, Dexter, Lilee, and Hallie; and her Grandparents, Brian and Marilee Lank, and Grandma Karen Johnson, along with many other relatives and close friends.
