Callyn Pollock

January 21, 1991 — June 16, 2018

Callyn Scott-Vincent Pollock, age 27, was born January 21, 1991, at the Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to Scott and Shannon (Mullen) Pollock. He died on June 16, 2018, leaving this earth much too soon.

Callyn was raised in Anita, Iowa. He enjoyed his family, friends and especially the outdoors, including activities of fishing and boating. Mostly though, he cherished his time with his family. Callyn was a kind-hearted man who cared about others first. He was an amazing person – beautiful inside and out. He was smart, witty, caring, and protective of those he loved and he adored his family.

There is no way to describe the pain our family is feeling. We are heartbroken. A big piece of our family unit is gone. For 27 years, we had him in our lives, to love and to cherish. We are at peace knowing he is finally with our Lord, our God in Heaven.

We just ask that you pray for him and his family who had to say goodbye in the worst way ever. Like all of us, he was a human being. None of us are perfect and we do the best we can to live our lives. As parents, we do everything in our power to protect our children. We hope he knows how much he was loved. He was someone’s son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend. We loved him with all our hearts. The only peace we have at this time, is knowing he is no longer hurting. His mind and body are free of pain and anguish. Thank you to those who believed in him, who didn’t judge him and who knew the battles he and his family have endured. We believed in Callyn and we did everything in our power to make him whole.

Callyn leaves to mourn his parents, Scott Pollock of Anita, IA, Shannon Mullen and step-father, John Haus of Des Moines, IA; his brother, Ethan Pollock of Anita, IA; his sister, Kaleigh Haus of Des Moines, IA; his grandparents, Joe and Yvonne Mullen of West Des Moines, IA; his aunts, uncles and cousins, Stephen and Elizabeth Turner (Collin and Madelyn) of Bennington, NE, Corey and Colleen Conrad (Camryn and Carley) of West Des Moines, IA; and special friends, Jill and Rachel Trainum and Michelle Christensen all of Madrid, IA.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Marguerite Pollock of Anita, IA.

On behalf of Scott, Shannon, Ethan, and the family, we would like to thank all of those who have loved and supported us these last few days. Without that support, mourning Callyn would have been so much more difficult. We do need to thank the Anita Fire Department and MediVac for their assistance on Saturday. We know they did everything they could to bring our Cal back to earth but God wanted him more. Love and gratitude to all of you!

Visitation with family will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018, from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita, IA. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, IA, at a later date.
