Carl E. Haskins

Carl E. Haskins, 76, of Exira, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, IA. Carl was born on August 15, 1949, to Lyle and Mae Haskins. He grew up in Audubon, Iowa and attended Audubon Schools. Following his education, Carl joined the Job Corp in Michigan before entering the United States Navy in 1969. Carl served on the USS Camden during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971 with a Vietnam Service Medal and a National Defense Medal. Carl took great pride in serving his country. Following his Naval Service, Carl traveled across the country working for several businesses until he was injured in an industrial accident.

Carl loved motorcycles and spent many years riding his Harley Davidson around the country. In addition to riding, Carl loved playing pool, watching NASCAR, and was an avid Cubs fan.

He most recently resided in Exira, Iowa and was known for riding his lawnmower around town to visit his many friends.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Mae Haskins; his siblings; Donald Haskins, Marilyn Haskins, Janice Haskins, Anna Lou Haskins, and Ruth Haskins.

He is survived by his son Carl Haskins Jr. of Florida; brothers Darwin Haskins of Manning, IA and John Haskins of Audubon, IA, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends.

A Memorial service will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa at a later date.

Memorials may be directed to the Haskins Family. They will be designated at a later date in honor of Carl, and they may be mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 201, Audubon, IA 50025.
