Mr. Charles "Chuck" Eugene Griffith, age 100, of Audubon, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 01, 2026, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, IA.

Charles Eugene Griffith was born on September 25, 1925, to Harold and Lola (Campbell) Griffith at their home in rural Audubon, IA. He was baptized as an adult in the Presbyterian Church in 1963 and has been a loyal member for over 60 years. Chuck attended country school, Melville #6, then Viola School. He later obtained a GED. After school, he started farming with his father. In June of 1944, he married Ruth Britt, and together they had two children: Connie and Roger. In July 1951, he married Jean (Hodges) Peterson, and they welcomed two more children: Lorayne and Beverly. Soon after, Linda and Bill were born into this union. The Department of Human Services employed Jean, which led them as a family to foster over 168 children, and adopt Scott into the family.

Besides being the steward of the land and the life of farming, Chuck was known for Chuck’s Bargain Barn, located just 9 ½ miles east of Audubon. He owned and operated the Bargain Barn for 31 years, during which he cleaned out 471 houses and attended numerous auctions, famously as buyer #150.

Chuck was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Audubon. He also enjoyed bowling, where he was a 31-year member of the Coon Rapids Bowling League, and he participated in state bowling competitions during his career.

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Griffith; his daughter, Linda Doggett; his parents, Harold and Lola Griffith; his great-grandson, Brandon Olsen; his great-granddaughter, Kate Griffith; his sons-in-law, Terry Feltner, Keith King, and John Ringen; and his brother and sister-in-law, Clark and Betty Griffith; his sister, Marjorie Cajka.

Survivors include children Connie (Ron) Partlow of Waukee, Iowa, Roger (Marge) Griffith of Audubon, Iowa, Lorayne Ringen of Maquoketa, Iowa, Bev King of Audubon, Iowa, Bill (Frances) Griffith of West Fork, Arkansas, and Scott (Renee) Griffith of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son in-law -Dennis Doggett of Boone, Iowa; his grandchildren Brian Partlow, Kevin (Cindy) Partlow, Heather (Matt) Chambers, Andy (Heather) Griffith, Terry (Jennifer) Griffith, Randy Olsen, Michael (Nicole) Olsen, LaRae Maggard and friend Scott, John (Darla) Feltner, Tim (Nessa) Feltner, Nathan (Rachael) King, Kris (Stefanie) King, Jason (Juliet) Stevens, Amber Stevens, Tyler (Sarah) Stevens, Nick (Amanda) Griffith, Joe Griffith, Stephanie Griffith, Megan Griffith, and Kaitlyn Griffith; 38 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Loren (Deanna) Griffith of Oregon, Jack (Elaine) Griffith of California, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public visitation with the family will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, January 06, 2026, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Audubon.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, January 07, 2026, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Audubon, IA, with Rev. Sheryl Puderbaugh officiating. Interment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. A luncheon will follow the committal at the St. Patrick's Catholic Parish Hall in Audubon.

Memorials may be directed to the Griffith Family in memory of Chuck. They will be designated at a later date and may be mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 201, Audubon, IA 50025.
