Charlotte Jane Thielen

Charlotte Jane Thielen, age 89, passed away on Jan 18, 2024.

Charlotte Jane was born in Audubon to Jacob and Mildred Thielen on January 22, 1934. She joined an older sister, Mary Colleen, and a brother, John Mathew. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira, where she was baptized and confirmed. Charlotte attended and graduated from Exira and continued her education in Iowa City and Arizona.

Char was a fun-loving outdoor type. She loved horses and could often be seen riding them in the Exira 4th of July Parade. She loved many activities, including going on different casino outings with friends. Char loved playing cards and was also known to walk the treadmill daily.  The one true love of Char’s was golfing. Over her lifetime, she was on various boards and councils at the Colony’s Women’s Golf Club. She periodically would play in different fun little events up until the time of her death.

Char always had a friendly face and smile and never said a mean word. She was indeed a kind person to everyone. Her family and friends, even the family in California, have nothing but positive things and stories about her. Char will be truly missed but always remembered for her smile and kindness. As you would say, Char, “Too-da-loo.”

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira, IA, with Father John Owusu as the celebrant. Interment will follow the mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Exira. A reception will be held following the committal in the fellowship hall of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Exira.
