Corinne Kellar, age 100 of Danbury, Wisconsin formerly of Exira, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Shell Lake Health Care Center in Shell Lake, Wisconsin.
She was born September 1, 1925, in Hamlin, Iowa to Harry and Cynthia (Bengard) Eagen. Corinne was raised in Iowa and graduated from Indianola High School. She took stenography courses in Des Moines, Iowa and worked as a secretary for Hawkeye Insurance Co. in Des Moines. After the U. S. entered WWII, Corinne traveled to California to work at Food Mechanics Corporation in Los Angeles which made amphibious tanks. She earned the Army/Navy Efficiency E. After WWII, she married Gerald DeWayne Kellar in 1946. Gerald preceded her in death in February 1976. After his death, Corinne worked at several jobs, but eventually became a Reserve Librarian at Macalaster College in St. Paul, Minnesota until her retirement.
Her work in a war plant during WWII allowed her to join the Rosie the Riveter Association (ARRA) when she moved to Sun City, Arizona. Corinne was a long-time member of the Lutheran Church, and was a charter member of the Danish Immigrant Museum in Elk Horn, Iowa. She particularly enjoyed bird watching, reading, playing the piano, needlepoint, gardening--- especially growing roses, and genealogy.
Corinne was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Cynthia (Bengard) Eagen, husband Gerald DeWayne Kellar, brother Robert Eagen, brothers-in-law Lewis Carlson, Fred Rabe, Robert Kellar Sr., and sisters-in-law Peggy (Copeland) Kellar, Harriet (Barnd) Eagen, and Edna (Christensen) Eagen.
Corinne is survived by daughter Pamela (Phil) Miller, son Dennis Kellar, daughter Patricia (Charles) Medlin, seven grandchildren: Michael (Kristine) Kellar, Brian Miller, Scott Kellar, Kathryn (Keith) Russell, David (Erica)Miller, Anne Marie (Brian) Wild, Ruth Medlin, and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings: Barbara Rabe, Alice Carlson, and Roger Eagen.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Exira with Rev. Loren Christensen officiating. Burial will be at the Exira Cemetery.
Public visitation with the family will be held before the funeral on Saturday, starting at 9:00 a.m.
The Kellar family appreciates the many expressions of sympathy and
