Cynthia Reinhardt

Cynthia Gustafson Reinhardt, 71, died Thursday, June 2, 2022, in her home with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Cindy was born March 31,1951 and grew up on a farm near Adair, IA with her wonderful parents, 3 sisters, and one brother. After graduating high school, she attended college at Northwest Missouri State for a year then moved to Ames, IA to be with her high school sweetheart and now widowed husband, Bradley Reinhardt.

Brad and Cindy lived in Ames, Des Moines, and Grimes, IA before moving to Davenport in the fall of 1977. They welcomed their 2 sons, Brian, and Cory, while in Des Moines and their daughter, Wendy, in Davenport. Cindy loved being a full-time mom and an active PTA member. In 1986 she went back to school to get her Medical Assistant Certification. She then worked at Spring Park Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons for 18 years. In her retirement she worked at Good Samaritan briefly then volunteered there for a few years running their coffee shop. She and the residents especially enjoyed when the grandkids came to help her.

Cindy’s favorite journey of life started in 2003 when she became a grandma. She took great pleasure in and exceled in her new role. She loved her family fiercely and welcomed all her bonus grandkids with open arms and an open heart. She has 8 grandkids and 1 great-grandchild who were so lucky to have Grandma Cindy in their lives.

Her hobbies and interests included shopping, planting flowers, shopping trips with her dear friends, card clubs, shopping, spending time with her family (especially grandchildren), family vacations, vacation shopping, watching British TV shows, and online shopping. She also devoted her time and energy as a caregiver to her siblings as they fought a battle against Huntington’s Disease.


Cindy is survived by her husband, Bradley Reinhardt; brothers-in-law, Brent (Julie) Reinhardt and Randy Dunn; sisters-in-law, Linda (Mark) Madison and Sue Plagman; 2 sons and their spouses, Brian and Ramona Reinhardt, Cory and Kelly Reinhardt; daughter and spouse, Wendy and Kyle Fischer, and 8 grandchildren; Chelsie (32), Cierra (29), Kevin (21), Christopher (19), Zachary (18), Meline (14), Andie (8), and Blake (5) and 1 great-grandchild, Fenrir (1).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Darlene Gustafson; sisters, Kerry Sue Dunn, Cheryl, and Nancy; brother, Delmar.

There will be a private burial service followed by a Celebration of Life open to the public on Saturday, Sept 24th from 2-5 pm at the Adair Fire Station.  Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Adair is caring for the Reinhardt family at this time and condolences can be sent at: schmidtfamilyfh.com
