Daryl Mayberry

Daryl Lynn Mayberry, 94, of Columbia, Missouri, and formerly of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away at The Bluffs nursing home in Columbia on Tuesday, February 9, 2016.

He was born in Atlantic on October 27, 1921, the son of John and Blanche (Best) Mayberry. Daryl earned a bachelor's degree from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and a master's degree from Webster College in St. Louis, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Bette Phillips in Indianola, Iowa.

Daryl served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific and later retired as a Major. He has lived in Interlaken, New Jersey; Pineville, Louisiana; Sac City, Iowa, and Columbia, Missouri. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Blanche Mayberry; his wife, Bette Mayberry, two brothers and three sisters.

Daryl is survived by his brother, Clifford Boyd Mayberry of Columbia, Missouri, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, IA.

Interment of the ashes will be in the Atlantic Cemetery following the memorial service. No visitation is scheduled.

A luncheon will be served at Hockenberry Family Care in the community room after the interment.
