Delores "Dee" June Hallett

Delores “Dee” June Hallett, the daughter of Robert Edwin and Ruby Mae (Bacon) Crom, was born September 14, 1940, at her parents’ home in Tekamah, Nebraska and died October 14, 2017, at her home in Audubon surrounded by her family at the age of 77 years and 1 month.

Delores was baptized at the Baptist Church in Union, Nebraska. She attended rural school near Union, Nebraska and graduated from the Plattsmouth High School with the Class of 1957. She made her home in Omaha, Nebraska where she was employed at Guarantee Mutual for a few years before working for Farris Tractor for a short time. In 1970, she was employed for Western Electric for over 20 years.

On April 10, 1981, she was united in marriage to Ronald G. Hallett in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home near Beaver Lake, Nebraska for several years then moved to Griswold, Iowa in 1995, and later to Atlantic, Iowa in 2002. After Delores and Ron both retired from Western Electric, they team drove semis over the road until they fully retired in 2007. In 2011, they purchased an RV Bus and traveled around the United States finally settling in Brownsville, Texas. They then moved to Audubon, Iowa in July of 2016. Ron died September 21, 2016.

Delores was a very active member of AA for several years. She was also a lay speaker and Deacon for the First United Methodist Church in Atlantic. Dee loved to crochet and made numerous dresses for the Dress a Doll program with Western Electric. She had a lifelong love for horses that inspired her to barrel race, trail riding, and participating in the River City Roundup for several years. She was also very proud to be a delegate in the State of Iowa. But most of all she loved spending time with Ron and her family.

Preceding her in death was her husband Ronald G. Hallett; her step-son Michael Ronald Hallett; her son-in-law John Bierbaum; her grandson Brent Hallett; her great grandson Izayah Pedrin; her parents; her brothers: Geary Crom and Carlyle Crom; and her twin brother Delbert Crom.

Survivors include her children: Kim Hallett of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy and husband Terry Pedrin of Audubon, Iowa, Troy and wife Bobbi Hallett of Sidney, Iowa, Sandy Bierbaum of Griswold, Iowa, Sharon and husband Todd Weist of Erie, Colorado, and Patty and husband K. D. Smith of Locust Grove, Arkansas, her grandchildren: Patrick Proctor, Jay and wife Jessica Pedrin, Rebeca Custer, Christopher Gale, Patrick Litle, Amanda and husband Nathael Brown, Courtney Hallett, Curtis Bierbaum, J.J. and his wife Hannah Bierbaum, Kristy and husband Scott Wood, her step grandchildren: Nicole Nisley, Katelyn Nisley, Jordan Nisley, Stephanie Petersen and Felicia Petersen; numerous great grandchildren; her sisters: Jenny Major of Springfield, Missouri, and Esther Walker of Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska; her brother: Fred and wife Gerry Crom of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted by Pastor Lori Shannon on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa. Inurnment will be at a later date. The honorary casket bearers will be Troy Hallett, Terry Pedrin, Patrick Litle, Patrick Proctor, Christopher Gale, Jay Pedrin, Curtis Bierbaum, and J.J. Bierbaum. The family will meet with friends Thursday afternoon at 1:00 P.M. until time of the service at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.
