Mrs. Deloris Claussen

Deloris Claussen age 77 of Elk Horn, IA, died at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, on Sunday, February 5, 2023. She was born the daughter of Verl and Leona Hall on October 4, 1945, on a farm on the Elk Horn Road in Cass County near Walnut, IA. She attended country school in Cass County before going to Walnut and graduating in1963.

Deloris married Dave Claussen in 1965 at the Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut. One child Christi was born to this union and two children, Michelle and Mike were adopted. Deloris was a farmer's wife. She helped raise the hogs, hauled in corn, and cooked for all the helpers. She painted on saws and wood and quilted a lot. She made quilts, table runners, wall hangings, and baby quilts. Deloris was a member of the Monroe Methodist Church in rural Shelby County. She enjoyed being a wife, mother and doing anything that made others happy.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dave, daughter Christi, two brothers Russell and Ronald, and her parents Verl and Leona Hall. Deloris is survived by her son, Mike Claussen of Atlantic, Iowa and her daughter Michelle; four grandchildren, two sisters Doris Wolken of Earlham and Evelyn Sager of Atlantic as well as many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Graveside service to be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February10, 2023 at the Layton Township Cemetery near Walnut, Iowa. A visitation and lunch will be held from 11:30-1:30 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic. Serving as pallbearers will be Mick Sager, Trent Wolken, Walt Jacobson, and Dustin Jensen.
