Dennis Toepfer

Dennis W. Toepfer, often known as “Bluegill”, age 61, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.

Dennis was born in Atlantic, IA, on August 16, 1959. He is the son to Harold “Skip” Toepfer and Sharon (Barnett) and Wilbur Hansen. He started his working career at IBP in Storm Lake. He then worked for Wilbur doing gutters and siding for about 15 years. Dennis was an all-around good helper to his family and many friends.

Dennis enjoyed fishing and hunting when he could and taking care of the house for his parents. He loved to walk around Walmart to get exercise and to socialize with people he knew in town.

He is survived by his three daughters; Cindy Toepfer of Albia, IA, Ashley (Matt) Wilson of Ottumwa, IA, Tara (Josh) Turner of Atlantic, IA; his mother Sharon (Wilbur) Hansen of Atlantic, IA; sisters, Daphne Haskins of Atlantic, IA, Lisa Hansen of Blair, NE, Kristi (Tim) Malcom of Irwin, IA; brothers, David (Marge) Toepfer of Storm Lake, IA, Paul Hansen of Atlantic, IA, and Scotty Toepfer of Red Oak, IA; three grandkids, Levi, Layla and Huxley Wilson all of Ottumwa, IA; and many nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.

Dennis is preceded in death by his father Harold “Skip” Toepfer; grandparents, Harold and Anna Mae Toepfer and Versa Hansen; and brother, John Hansen.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family in honor of Dennis and may be mailed to the Hockenberry Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA. (1804 E 7th St.).
