Dixie Sue Pedersen

Dixie Sue Hockom Pedersen, 75, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. She was born to Gene and Marilyn (Switzer) Hockom. She lived a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gene and Marilyn (Switzer) Hockom; her brother, Doug Hockom; and her beloved grandchild, Regan Weeks; In-laws, Axel and Martha Pedersen.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Pedersen of Atlantic, Iowa; her children, Troy and Amy Pedersen of Treynor, Iowa; Corby and Amy Pedersen of New Castle, Colorado; Nichole and Nick Kinney of Omaha, Nebraska; and Tiffany and Nate Droessler of Galena, Illinois. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Paige (Sam) Hendricksen, Todd Pedersen, Sophi Pedersen, Addi Pedersen, Bryar (Holden) Banks, Brody Weeks, Beau Weeks, Baleigh Weeks, Boone Droessler, Finley Droessler, Jeter Droessler, Jordan (Rachel) Weppler, and Sydney Weppler; and her precious great-grandchildren, Saylor Hendricksen, Baker Hendricksen, and Selma Weppler. She also leaves behind many other relatives and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Dixie will be remembered for her caring heart, gentle spirit, and the unconditional love she shared with everyone around her. Her greatest joy was her family, and the legacy of love, strength, and compassion she leaves behind will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, Iowa. A Visitation with the family present will begin at 1:00 p.m., and a social gathering to following the service at the funeral home's community room. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and celebrate Dixie's life.
