Doreen Petersen

Doreen J. Petersen, 52, of Avoca, Iowa, and formerly of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at Avoca Specialty Care in Avoca, Iowa.

Doreen was born September 10, 1963, in Audubon, Iowa, to Dallas Allen and Barbara Lee (Scherdin) Petersen. She grew up in the Underwood area and attended school in Underwood. Doreen had worked as a press operator at Laser Label in Omaha, NE. She lived in the Council Bluffs and McClelland, Iowa, area. She enjoyed working with crafts.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother, Barbara; brother, Darren; and sister, Darling.

Doreen is survived by two sons, Channing Petersen of Red Oak, IA and Cole Smith of Omaha, NE; her father, Dallas Petersen of Villisca, IA; brother, Darryl (Barb) Petersen of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters, Donna (Scott) Saggs of Council Bluffs, IA and Diana (Jared) Jensen of Omaha, NE; three nieces and three nephews.

There will be a celebration of life visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2015, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, with a graveside service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Atlantic Cemetery, Atlantic, Iowa.
