Dr. Peterson

Dr. William "Bill" Charles Peterson was born September 7, 1939, in Exira, Iowa, to parents Weir "Scoop" T. and Wynona E. (Avey) Peterson. He lived in Exira and Brayton, Iowa, in his early years. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State College in 1963. He served in the Air Force for 7 years as an Air Force Officer. Upon leaving the service, he later received his chiropractic license in 1979 from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri. He practiced in Missouri, Kansas and Washington. He then served with the Civil Service with the Air Force for 18 years before retiring and moving to Iowa. On August 29, 2004, he married Barbara Majerus in Exira, Iowa.

Bill loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends, gardening, reading his Bible, and enjoying his pets.

Bill was recently diagnosed with cancer and on November 29, 2016, died at 77 years of age. He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Exira, IA; children, Kevin Peterson, wife Debi (Shane and Amanda) of Madison, AL, Erik Peterson (Anthony and Andrew) of Carroll, IA, Les Peterson, wife Audra (Luke) of Johns Creek, GA, Diana Plorins, husband Jim (Anna, Emily and Isaac) of Bondurant, IA and Debbie Schmidt, husband Jim (Brook, Anthony and Mavrick) of Harlan, IA; and great-granddaughter Jersey Lee, (Andrew and Hollie).

He will always be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2016, at the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa.
