Elaine Michaelsen

Elaine Michaelsen, 90, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017, at the Heritage House in Atlantic, Iowa.

Elaine was the daughter of Otto and Ella (Andersen) Reich. She was born on November 9, 1927, in Shelby County, Iowa. She attended Clay County Township #5 country school and Sunday school in Rorbeck. She graduated from the Exira High School. The children in her family were very involved with the farm chores.

She was united in marriage to Eldred Michaelsen at the Exira Lutheran Church. They farmed together during their married life in Audubon and Cass County, Iowa. In 1968, they purchased and moved to a farm in Missouri for a short time.

Upon retirement, they moved to Atlantic and lived there until Eldred’s death. Elaine continued to live in Atlantic and in 2010, she moved to Heritage House. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Atlantic, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eldred in 2000; her brothers and sisters, Freddie (Loretta) Reich, Folmer (Reta) Reich, Viola (Milo) Jensen and Verda (Norman) Juelsgaard; 2 nephews, Jack Juelsgaard and Morris Michaelsen.

Elaine is survived by several nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Atlantic Cemetery in Atlantic, Iowa.

A time of visitation with the family will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Atlantic, IA, immediately following the graveside service.
