Eldon Faga

Eldon J. Faga, 90, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.

Eldon John Faga was born October 17, 1926, to Otto and Martha Ellen (Hocamp) in Guthrie County, Iowa. He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church north of Adair.

He attended Guthrie County Country School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1947 and served in the Korean Conflict being honorably discharged in 1951.

On December 28, 1968, he married Hilda Hansen. They were married nearly 25 years when Hilda passed away in 1992. Then on October 15, 1996, he married Angela (Lawlor) Hollinrake.

Eldon farmed for many years before becoming the manager of the Adair Lumber Company, from which he retired. He also drove a truck for Noland Feed.

One of his favorite activities was wood working. He also enjoyed singing on a radio program with his brothers. He loved all of his nieces and nephews as well as Angela’s children and grandchildren, treating them as if they were his own. He was a member of the Adair VFW.

Preceding Eldon in death were his parents; brothers, George (Peggy) Faga and Robert Faga; sister, Ellen Brandt and brothers-in-law, Gary Brandt and Clarence Gustafson.

Eldon is survived by his wife, Angela of Adair, IA; brother, Paul (Joyce) Faga of Texas; sister, Doris Gustafson of Atlantic, IA; sister-in-law, Sonnie Faga of California; stepson, Francis (Deb) Hollinrake of Adair, IA; grandsons, Mathew (Keri) Hollinrake, Blake, Toria, KC of Estherville, IA, and Jonathan (Dianna) Hollinrake, Caitlyn, Connor of Sioux City, IA; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Ford) Lillard, Bailey and Hunter from Wiota, IA; stepdaughter, Maureen (Dale) Sheeder of Casey, IA; grandsons, Luke and Cody Sheeder; granddaughter, Dawn Sheeder and Haley of Casey, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Hockenberry Family Care in Adair, Iowa.

A Word Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2017, at St. John Catholic Church in Adair, IA, with burial in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Adair, IA.
