Erma E. Fischer, the daughter of Harry and Mamie Andersen, was born July 29, 1920, at her parents' home in Clay Township, Shelby County, Iowa, and died September 3, 2006, in Saint Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 6 days.
On February 18, 1943, she was united in marriage to Gerald L. Fischer in Papillion, Nebraska. Two sons were born to this union. They farmed north of Walnut until 1953 when they moved to Kimballton. Erma was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton for many years. She also worked at Salem Lutheran Homes for several years in Dietary Services. Erma moved to Atlantic, Iowa, in 1986 following the death of her husband.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Fischer and his wife Brenda, of Savannah, MO, and Randy Fischer and his wife Barb, of Marne, IA; her grandchildren, Kyle Fischer and his wife Deena, of Des Moines, IA, Courtney Fischer and his wife Suzie, of Napoleon, MO, Emona Orr and her husband Rod of Savannah, MO, Brian Woebbecke and his wife Sue, of Blair, NE, Chad Fischer and his wife Jen, of Atlantic, IA, Travis Fischer of Council Bluffs, IA; her great-grandchildren, Sydney and Jerad Fischer of Des Moines, IA, Harley and Hunter Orr of Savannah, MO, Layla and Mason Fischer of Napoleon, MO, Devin Fischer of Atlantic, IA; her in-laws, Glen and Alta Petersen of Exira, IA, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding Erma in death were her husband, Gerald L. Fischer; her parents, Harry and Mamie Andersen; her sister, Bonnie Jensen and brother-in-law, Folmer Jensen; her sister, Mildred Jensen and brother-in-law, Clifford Jensen; in-laws, Virgil and Jean Fischer and in-laws, Leon and Naoma Christoffersen.
Funeral services for Erma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, with visitation 2 hours prior to the funeral starting at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in Layton Township Cemetery, Walnut, Iowa. There will be a luncheon at the Marne Community Room in Marne, IA, following the cemetery service.
