Frankie Minor

December 24, 1933 — December 10, 2021

Frankie Louise Whitten Minor, Born December 24, 1933, in Gilmer, TX. She passed away on Friday, December, 10th, 2021, at the Exira Care Center at the age of 85.

Frankie graduated high school in 1951 from Lake Charles, LA. She attended and graduated from Business College in Sherman, TX in 1953. Frankie was the oldest of 4 children. A younger sister Arbie Jean Andersen Whitten, one younger brother John Bruce Whitten, and Mary Jo Whitten's youngest sister.

In 1954 Frankie came to Atlantic on Christmas to visit family for the Holidays and decided to stay. While here she met Dave Minor and life really got underway. After a year and a half of dating, they got married on June 18, 1955. For the next 66 ½ years they have lived happily together. Frankie joined the Benevolent and Patriotic order of the Does participating in several officer positions including President of the local drove, later going on to be the State President of Iowa. She was also active in the order of the Eastern Star and later became a Worthy Matron, she enjoyed serving in both organizations.

Frankie raised two children, Patricia Ann (Trish) and John David Jr. Frankie enjoyed raising her children very much. Each year Frankie would take the kids to the National convention. The conventions were located in many different states and were greatly enjoyed by both kids. Frankie loved belonging to the Atlantic Library still today reading a wide variety of books. She also loved magazines; always making new recipes she had found.

Dave and Frankie moved to Kaufman, TX buying a 22-acre tract of land with nothing but a light pole with a meter and a fence around the property, things soon changed. While living in Texas, Frankie and Dave took an interest in raising and training quarter horses. They turned the ground into a small breeding ranch, eventually selling horses from Coast to Coast. Frankie loved springtime when the foals started being born. Frankie loved raising and training horses of every age, at times having up to 15 foals to care for.
Frankie worked at the Mesquite Hospital outside of Dallas for several years in the bookkeeping department. Later she joined Dave at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store as a bookkeeper. One of the stores sold and Frankie, by herself, packed everything off of the shelves into boxes. She then was required to put a variety of goods onto pallets, wrap the pallets in plastic, and take it to the loading dock to be delivered to other stores in the grocery chain. She accomplished this in just two weeks. Frankie did an excellent job at anything she put her mind to.
After retiring, Frankie loved reading, cooking, and most of all spending time with her great-grandkids and family.

She will be deeply missed.
