Gail Lynn Brockman

Mr. Gail Lynn Brockman, age 76, of Marne, IA, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Gail was born on January 31, 1947, in Council Bluffs, IA, the son of George and Evelyn (Nielsen) Brockman. Gail attended Treynor Schools before voluntarily enlisted in the United States Navy on January 20, 1965, where he was a typist for a two-year term on the USS Handcock. On December 2, 1967, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Kay Frederickson. To this union, they have four children: Terry, Jeff, Jerry, and Tony.

Gail and Carolyn raised their family in Marne, where they farmed together, raising cattle, hogs, and row crops. In their spare time, they each enjoyed going out to dinner at the Mexican Restaurant or going to the Marne Bar. But you knew when it was time to go home, and Gail was getting tired, when he said, "My chair is calling my name!" Gail was also a hail adjuster for over 30 years, traveling all over the Midwest. He was also a longtime valuable member of the Elks Lodge in Atlantic, where he served as a trustee. Gail enjoyed watching old westerns and listening to country western music. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and bowling at Hawkeye Bowl. He was a work-hard, play-hard guy who ingrained a strong work ethic into his kids.

Gail is survived by his wife, Carolyn Brockman of Marne, IA; children, Jeff Brockman of Griswold, IA, Jerry (Shannon) Brockman of Marne, IA, Tony (Traci) Brockman of Atlantic, IA; 10 grandchildren; sister Marjorie (William) Hatcher of Treynor, IA; brother-in-law Don Wayman of Layton, Utah.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn; son in infancy, Terry; brothers, Gerald (Bobbie) Brockman, Gordon (Louise) Brockman, Ronnie (LaVonne) Brockman, Richard Brockman, Roger Brockman; and a sister, Mary Wayman.

Visitation with family will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Atlantic, IA, with Rev. Lauri Boysen officiating the service. A luncheon will be held following the funeral in the reception hall of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be directed to the Gail Brockman Family; they will be designated at a later date and may be mailed to the Schmidt Family Funeral Home P.O. Box 523, Atlantic, IA 50022.

Private interment will be held at Zion Congregational Cemetery in Treynor, IA.
