Gary Lee Mulford

Gary Lee Mulford, the son of Edwin and Rose (Lebeck) Mulford, was born December 9, 1943, in Carroll, Iowa and died September 14, 2020, at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn, Iowa at the age of 76 years, 9 months, and 5 days.

Gary was baptized at his parents’ home in Audubon, Iowa by the First Methodist Church Pastor. He attended Audubon Community Schools through the 8th grade then went to work. He later received his GED. Gary worked for Carlson Seed Company for several years.

On December 10, 1965, he was united in marriage to Gloria Jean Borkowski at the First Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. They were blessed with four children Brian, Steven, Jason, and Jennifer. They moved to Belmond, Iowa where Gary was employed at ACCO Seed Company for a few years. They returned to Audubon and Gary commuted to Scranton, Iowa and was employed at the manufacturing business there. Later he worked for Rose Acre Farms for several years then worked for the Audubon Furniture Mart delivering furniture until he retired. During retirement he assisted Gloria with her daycare business. Gary was always in charge of rocking the babies as he enjoyed his afternoon TV shows.

Gary was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. He enjoyed listening to his country music and singing along with the “Oldies.” Gary enjoyed fishing, watching Westerns on TV, but most of all participating in the many activities and sports his children and grandchildren were involved in.

Preceding him in death was their infant son, Brian Lee Mulford; his parents, Edwin and Rose Mulford; his step-mother, Lucille Mulford; his sister, Carolyn Mulford; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Thelma Borkowski; his sisters-in-law, Reta Loukota and Beverly Parkhurst; and his brothers-in-law: Donald and wife Jayana Borkowski, David Borkowski, and Lloyd Meaike.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Mulford of Audubon, Iowa; his children: Steven and Tracy Mulford of Elk Horn, Iowa, Jason and Marcie Mulford of Ankeny, Iowa and Jennifer and husband Clint Stetzel of Audubon, Iowa; his grandchildren: Brandi Mulford of Carroll, Iowa, Jacob Mulford and fiancée Lileigh Brown both of Battleground, Indiana, Jordan Mulford of Elk Horn, Iowa, Kyle Konecne of Slater, Iowa, Tara Konecne, Autumn Mulford and Ella Mulford all of Ankeny, Iowa and Logan and Liam Stetzel both of Audubon, Iowa; his great grandson, Aiden Bush of Carroll, Iowa; his twin brother, Larry Mulford of Audubon, Iowa, his Aunts, Geri Clausen of Fremont, Nebraska and Violet Whitney of Las Vegas, Nevada; his sisters-in-law: Delores Gourley, Lori and husband Pete Hanson, Penny and husband Randy LaFoy all of Audubon, Iowa and Diane Borkowski of Atlantic, Iowa; his brothers-in-law, Jim Loukota of Goodman, Missouri and Charles Parkhurst of Harlan, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will greet friends on Friday, September 18, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Kathy Kluis on Friday afternoon, September 18, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa. The casket bearers will be Mark Mulford, Charles Parkhurst, Steve Heuton, Tyler Parkhurst, Pete Hanson, and Randy LaFoy. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon is in charge of his arrangements.
