Georgia Reyna

July 4, 1946 — December 8, 2017

Georgia Ann Reyna, 71, of Walnut, Iowa, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

She was born July 4, 1946, to George and Harriet (Hill) Pagliuso in Derby, Iowa. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1964 in Clarion, Iowa. On July 11, 1964, she was united in marriage to Frank Reyna in Clarion. They moved to Walnut, Iowa, in 1965, where they made their home and raised their family.

Georgia worked a few various jobs before starting a career at the Iowa Department of Human services (DHS). She was employed with DHS for over 30 years as an income maintenance worker before retiring from there. Georgia loved her job but she learned to enjoy her retirement time as she was very fond of watching daytime television, especially the Young and the Restless. All the family were well aware not to telephone her from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

She had a creative side to her and was always very helpful with the kids’ various arts and crafts projects. Georgia’s greatest love was her children and grandchildren. She learned how to cook several traditional Mexican meals from her mother-in-law and was very good at them. Georgia later thoroughly enjoyed showing her own children and grandchildren how to make them as well.

Georgia is survived by her husband, Frank Reyna, Sr.; her daughters, Rhonda Pahl (significant other, Richard Smith) of Atlantic, IA, and Juanita (Juan) Olmedo of Omaha, NE; her grandchildren, Heather (Colin) Peterson, Haley Zavala, Myah Rubio, Xavier Martinez, Liliana Martinez and their father Freddie Martinez, Diego Olmedo and Brendan Lillard; her great-granddaughter, Aliyah Brummond; her sister, Enola Pagliuso of Walnut, IA; her sisters-in-law, Angel Fisher of Ames, IA, Dee Reyna of Clarion, IA, and Darlene Reyna of Slayter, MO; her brothers-in-law, Richard Reyna of Higginsville, MO, Gabino Reyna of Holmes, IA, John Reyna of Thor, IA, and Dan (Nancy) Reyna of Clarion, IA; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Harriet Pagliuso; her parents-in-law, Marcelino and Aurelia Reyna; her son, Frank T. Reyna, Jr.; her daughter, Roxane Reyna; her brother, Dennis (Peggy) Brown; siblings-in-law, Alice (Francis) Stumpf, Phyllis (Harold) Waddell, Joe Reyna and Mike Reyna, Sr.

Visitation with family will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

A private family interment of cremains will take place at a later date in the Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut, Iowa.

The family strongly request memorials to the family in lieu of flowers to be used per Georgia’s wishes.
