Gloria Jean Mulford

     Gloria Jean Mulford was born October 6, 1948, the daughter of Lester and Thelma (Dittman) Borkowski, at her parents’ home in Audubon. She was baptized and confirmed at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. She attended the Audubon Community Schools and later obtained her G.E.D.

     On December 10, 1965, Gloria was united in marriage to Gary Mulford at the United Methodist Church in Audubon. Four children were born to the union: BrIan, Steven, Jason, and Jennifer. Gloria was employed by several local cafés and was a nursing aide at the Friendship Home in Audubon from 1987-1998. Following that, she started her own daycare until her retirement in 2019 due to medical issues.

     In her younger years, Gloria was a member of the Bowling League. She was also a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. She loved her flowers and birds in the springtime. Gloria was an avid Audubon Wheeler and Iowa State Cyclone fan; enjoying all sporting events, especially watching her grandchildren. She cherished her family and held a special place in her heart for all her daycare children.

     Gloria passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 74 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Mulford; son, BrIan Mulford; parents in-law: Ed and Lucy Mulford and Rose Mulford; sisters: Reta Loukota and Beverly Parkhurst; brothers: Donald Borkowski and his wife Jayana and David Borkowski; sister-in-law, Carolyn Mulford; brothers-in-law: Larry Mulford and Lloyd Meaike; twin nieces: Emily and Alison Meaike; and nephews: Kip Spencer, and Seth Hanson.

     Survivors include her children: Steven and Tracy Mulford of Elk Horn, Iowa, Jason and Marcie Mulford of Ankeny, Iowa and Jennifer and husband Clint Stetzel of Audubon, Iowa; her grandchildren: Brandi Mulford of Gray, Iowa, Jacob Mulford and his wife Lileigh of Flora, Indiana, Jordan Mulford of Elk Horn, Iowa, Kyle Konecne of Slater, Iowa, Tara Konecne of Slater, Iowa, Autumn Mulford and Ella Mulford both of Ankeny, Iowa and Logan and Liam Stetzel both of Audubon, Iowa; her great grandsons, Aiden and Tatum Bush both of Gray Iowa; and Hayes Mulford of Flora, Indiana; sisters: Dolores Gourley, Lori and husband Pete Hanson, Penny and husband Randy LaFoy all of Audubon, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Charles Parkhurst of Harlan, Iowa and Jim Loukota of Goodman, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

     The casket bearers will be Todd Parkhurst, Tyler Parkhurst, Mark Mulford, Mike Daugard, Scott Daugard, and Shawn Bohlmann.  The honorary casket bearers will be her sisters: Dolores Gourley, Lori Hanson, Penny LaFoy all of Audubon, Iowa
