Henry George Holaday, 87, of Anita, Iowa, departed this earthly life on September 30, 2018.

Henry was born September 2, 1931, to Clifford and Reba (King) Holaday in Cass County, Iowa, and attended country school there. He attended Cumberland and Massena High School where he was active in drama, basketball, student council, choir, and band in which he played cornet and tuba. Following graduation in 1949, he went to work as a welder at Griswold Laco. He married Mildred (Millie) Mann on January 27, 1952. Henry farmed in Anita from the early 1950s until the mid-1970s when he and Millie moved to town.

“Hank”, as he was known by family and friends, loved music of all kinds and was known to cut a mean rug with Millie on many occasions. He was an avid collector of toy farm implements. Hank also enjoyed tinkering in his shop and never missed a chance to visit and help out at his farm. While at Heritage House in Atlantic, Hank was a big fan of BINGO.

Henry is survived by his wife, Millie; brother, Varel of Atlantic; sister, Ruth Hellyer of Urbandale; sister-in-law, Edith (Mann) Petty; children, Katherine Bergman (Greg) of Columbia, Missouri, Connie Dixon (Ross) of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Carol Holaday of Omaha, and Leann Tiner (Lou) of North Richland Hills, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Henry was preceded in death by his, mother, Reba Holaday; father, Clifford Holaday; brothers, Gail and Gary Holaday; and sisters, Dorothy Bonnesen and Marjorie Eblen.

Visitation with family will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Anita, Iowa.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Anita, Iowa. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa.

The family wishes memorials go to the Anita United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.
