Ida Mccrory

Ida Geneva McCrory, 97, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 30, 2015, at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Ida was born April 1, 1918, in Washington Township, Cass County, Iowa, to Roy Walter and Mabel Cynthia (Winston) Bornholdt. She grew up in Cass County and graduated from the Anita High School. She was married to Robert McCrory on December 16, 1940, in Grand Island, Nebraska. Ida was a lifelong resident of Cass County, except for four years when she lived in South Dakota as a young girl.

Ida helped Robert with many of the chores on the farm. Together, they helped raise their nephew, Bruce Bornholdt, in Atlantic. She was a 4-H leader for many years. Ida enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, and playing Bridge and Pinochle. She also maintained the family history.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, a past member of the First Church of Christ in Cumberland, IA, a member of DOE's and the Lady's Garden Club in Cumberland, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a daughter-in-law, Kathee; granddaughter-in-law, Becky Ackerman; great-grandson, Zachariah Lensch and three brothers, Ivan, Merle and Henry.

Ida is survived by a daughter, Joan (Steve) Ackerman of Marion, Iowa; two sons, Jerry McCrory of Atlantic, IA and Kent McCrory of Cumberland, IA; grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Thompson of Bridgewater, IA, Bill (Dawn) McCrory of Atlantic, IA, Julie Ackerman of Marion, IA, Anthony (Cindy) Ackerman of Marion, IA, Rehna (Brian) Lensch of Atlantic, IA and Sherry (Aaron) Goetz of Bridgewater, IA; great-grandchildren, Jake (Dannie Scacchi) Thompson of Bridgewater, IA, Kristyn and fiancé Clay Mercer of Corning, IA, Jeff Thompson of Fremont, NE, Miranda Vollmer of Marion, IA, Shawn Vollmer of Marion, IA, Tyler Ackerman of Marion, IA, Alexandria Lensch of Atlantic, IA, Nathanael Lensch of Atlantic, IA, Avery Goetz and Robert Goetz both of Bridgewater, IA; great-great-grandchildren, Briggs and Mavryk Mercer of Corning, IA; sisters, Beulah Blake of Salem, OR and Dorothy Clausen of Topeka, KS; and a brother-in-law, Dale McCrory of California.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, IA.

Memorials are preferred to family's wishes.
