James Stokley

James "Jim" Barry Stokley, 65, of Anita, Iowa, died peacefully Sunday, May 15, 2016, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born May 14, 1951, in Connersville, Indiana, to James Allen and Elda (Hockersmith) Stokley. He grew up in Sawyer, Oklahoma where he graduated high school.

Jim was married to Patricia Lett on June 9, 1973, in Anita, Iowa. Jim had several jobs during his life. He was a factory worker, carpenter, and truck driver.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim also loved pets, both big and small. Music was one of Jims' passions. He played guitar, the drums and sang in a band for many years. He loved cooking for his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia; son, Jamie (Michelle) Stokley of Anita, IA; sister-in-law Barb (Art) Turner of Corning, IA; grandchildren, Remington James Stokley, Matthew, Mercedes, and Marshall Harris; nieces and nephews, Christian (Lacy) Turner and family of Corning, Cheyenne (Rob) Rasmussen and family of Massena; daughter, Belinda Joyce; grandchildren; Jared (Kassie) Joyce, Jessica Pedrine, and Jackie Raymond; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 19, 2016, with a memorial service being held at 5:00 p.m., both at the United Methodist Church in Anita.

A time for a light meal and fellowship will be held directly following the service in the fellowship hall. A private interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
