James Weber

James "Jim" R. Weber, 81, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jim was born April 15, 1934, on a farm north of Cumberland in Cass County, Iowa, to Wesley H. and Helen (Hopkins) Weber. He grew up in the Wiota area and graduated from Wiota High School in 1952. He was married to Lyla Johnson on November 13, 1955, at the United Methodist Church in Wiota, Iowa. Jim lived and farmed his entire life in the Anita and Cumberland area. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Anita, Iowa.

Family and farming were Jim's greatest loves, and he was very happy he was able to combine corn this past harvest season. His dog, Dixie, brought him much enjoyment, as did time spent with the Norway Center gang and swapping stories at Lund's Welding.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley H. and Helen Weber; parents-in-law, Jim and Hazel Johnson; a daughter, Julie Weber; sisters, Winona (Harry) Kenny and Rosalie Jelen; sister-in-law, Thelma Stuetelberg; and a brother-in-law, Jerrold Johnson.

Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lyla Weber of Anita, IA; a daughter, Debbie (Pat) Heiken of Iowa City, IA; a son, Danny Weber of Anita, IA; a grandson, Chad (Dana) Reed of West Branch, IA; brother, Donald (Marilyn) Weber of Leesburg, FL; sister-in-law, Roberta Thompson of Omaha, NE; and brother-in-law, James Johnson of Denver, CO.

Visitation is from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016, at Hockenberry Family Care in Anita, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Anita, Iowa.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Anita, Iowa.
