Janet Bramer

Janet Elaine Bramer, 79, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa.

Janet was born November 3, 1941, in Exira, Iowa, to Claude Cecil and Edna (Neilsen) Green. She attended school in Exira graduating from the Exira High School in 1960. She moved to Atlantic, Iowa, in 1971. On December 15, 1979, she was united in marriage to Dennis E. Bramer in Coco Beach, Florida.

Janet was co-owner of McDermott Roofing with her husband and was the office manager. She also owned and operated a coffee shop called Ja-De's Coffee Shop in downtown Atlantic from 1982 - 1988.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ, the DOES, and the Business and Professional Women all in Atlantic.

Some of her favorite pastimes were bowling, reading, playing cards and putting puzzles together. One especially favorite activity was growing flowers. She was known to have “two green thumbs”. She loved being with family and watching everyone grow up. Her most favorite weekly activity was “Friday Night Wine Night”.

Preceding Janet in death were her parents, Claude and Edna Green; her husband, Dennis; brothers, Robert, Kenneth and Howard; sister-in-law, Linda Hosmer; and mother/father-in-law, Shorty and Jeanne Bramer.

Those with loving memories to remember are her children, Sherrill Clausen and Joe of Atlantic, IA, Debra (James) Britt of Jesup, GA, and Robert (Sonya) Clausen of Atlantic, IA; grandchildren, Tiffany (Frank) Dambra, Richard Morrow, Miranda Morrow, Crystal (Chris) Schroder and Joseph Clausen; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and sisters-in-law, Jean Green and Pam (Duane) Curtis.

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and a D.O.E.S service at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Atlantic, IA.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2020, at the United Church of Christ in Atlantic, IA, with burial in the Atlantic Cemetery.

Social distancing and face masks are required.

Memorials may be directed to the family in honor of Janet and will be designated at a later date.
