Joan Elaine Jackson, 67, of Lewis, Iowa, died January 7, 2015.

She was born May 18, 1948, in Gregory, South Dakota, the daughter of August (Gus) and Mary (Hansen) Fiebelkorn. She was one of six siblings. She married Carol Jackson on February 14, 1964, in Burke, South Dakota.

Joan enjoyed reading, word searches, volunteering at the hospital, socializing over coffee hour, camping, her animals, and especially spending time with family. She also enjoyed crafts, attending school events for her grandchildren, gardening, and collecting Coca Cola memorabilia. In her younger years she enjoyed playing cards and polka dancing.

Joan retired in May of 2010 from the Cass County Memorial Hospital after 24 years of service. She then volunteered for the auxiliary for 6 years. She enjoyed her work at the hospital and it was difficult to keep her away even through health issues.

Joan is survived by her sisters: Dorothy (Carl) Schneider and Susan Fiebelkorn-Walker; children: Mary (Hollis) Nordby of Lewis, Tom (Bridget) Jackson of Anita and Amy Christensen of Atlantic; her nine grandchildren: Alan (Mariko) Jackson, Melissa (Josh) Hawkins, Samantha Christensen, Heath Nordby, Burnette Nordby, Scott Jackson, Felicity Jackson, Jade Jackson and Gavin Clayton; three great-grandchildren: Damion Baker, Gage Hawkins and Drake Jackson.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Carol Jackson; her parents, Gus and Mary Fiebelkorn; siblings: Archie Fiebelkorn, Judy Sheeley, Richard (Dick) Fiebelkorn and Alice Conrad; and her mother-in-law, Beulah Heller.

There will be a Celebration of Life service at the Lewis Community Building in Lewis, Iowa, on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at 2:00 p.m.

The family will great friends before the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Lewis Community Building on January 24, 2016.

The family asks that memorials be directed to Mary Nordby, 300 Washington Street, Lewis, Iowa, 51544.
