Jon Paul Pelzer

Jon Pelzer, 53, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri and formerly of Marne, Iowa, died
Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City,
MO.

The son of Don Lee Pelzer and Jaqueline Jo (Oakes) Pelzer, Jon Paul Pelzer was born
September 5, 1970, at the Atlantic Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa. Jon attended Atlantic
High School where he graduated with the class of 1989. He worked on the family farm
with his dad and brother north of Marne, Iowa.

Jon met Heather Christine Seedorff at the Marne Ballpark and they were married
February 14, 1998, at the church in Watkins Mill State Park, in Lawson, Missouri. One
daughter, Alexandra, and two sons, Zachary and Elijah were born to this union. He
continued to operate the family farm, drove truck for Keim TS for 7 years, and worked
at Ford Motor Company for 12 years. Jon was a member of the UAW Local 249 Union.

During high school, Jon won the State Championship and set many records in track and
field. He attended Northwest Missouri State University where he set records in both
shot put and discus. He was invited to the Olympic Training Facility in Colorado
Springs, CO to train for the 1992 Summer Olympics. He also played football and
baseball during high school.

He loved to be the life of the party and could put a smile on anyone’s face with one of
his jokes or stories. Jon never met a stranger, and could talk with anyone, anywhere,
anytime. He looked forward to attending his children’s sporting events. He coached the
youth football team, in Excelsior Springs. He loved travelling and went to all the lower
48 states. He always loved spending time with his granddaughter, Ava, on what he
called “Ava Days.” He loved quoting movies, playing games, going to sporting events,
and going to concerts with his family.

Jon is survived by his wife, Heather Christine (Seedorff) Pelzer of Excelsior Springs,
MO, his daughter Alexandra Demitra Pelzer of Excelsior Springs, MO, his sons, Zachary
Jon Pelzer, wife, Ariel KerÍ (Odell) Pelzer, and granddaughter Ava KerÍ Pelzer of
Excelsior Springs, MO, and Elijah Paul Pelzer of Excelsior Springs, MO; brother, Jeffrey
Lee Pelzer of Atlantic, IA; and nieces, nephews, an aunt, an uncle, cousins, other
relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mom, Jaqueline Jo (Oakes) Pelzer, and dad, Donald Lee
Pelzer.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home, 1804 East 7th Street, Atlantic, IA 50022. Reverend Randy Seedorff officiating. Burial will follow at the Brighton Township Cemetery in rural Marne.

Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Schmidt Family Funeral Home.
