Joye Myra Paul, age 90, of Atlantic, IA, and formerly of Anita, IA, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic.

Joye was born June 13, 1930, in Boone, IA, to Roy and Bess (Anderson) Steward. Joye, along with her two sisters (Jane and Jean), were a set of triplets. She graduated from North High School in 1948. On August 25, 1973, she married Walter Junior Paul from Anita. Together they farmed west of Adair for many years before moving to Atlantic.

Joye was an office manager for Ruan Trucking Company. A few of Joye’s hobbies included golfing with Junior, assembling jig saw puzzles, playing cards with family and friends, and playing bingo in Anita. She also enjoyed helping on the farm.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Roy and Bess Steward; brothers, Jack and Donn; a sister, Jane; and a son, Tom Massey.

Joye is survived by her husband, Walter Junior Paul; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Massey Preston and husband John Preston; son, Michael Massey and wife Yolanda; granddaughters, Erin Armstrong and husband Chase, Lora Massey Bullock and husband David; grandson, Steven Massey and wife Nadia; great-granddaughters, Elsa Armstrong, Celia Armstrong, Noelle Massey; sister, Jean Steward; and many extended cousins.

Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Hockenberry Funeral Home in Adair, IA, with Rev. Kyle McBee of Zion Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the family and will be designated in memory of Joye at a later date.
