Kathleen "Kathee" Louise McCrory passed away on September 27, 2015.

Kathee was born May 1, 1945, in Atlantic, IA, to Lester and Ida (Miller) Johnson. Kathee was raised on a farm east of Brayton, IA, and graduated from Exira High School. Kathee went on to college at Northwest Missouri State and also AIB in Omaha, where she obtained a degree in business.

On January 30, 1965, Kathee was united in marriage to Jerry McCrory. To this union there were two children, Amy Jo, and William (Bill). Jerry and Kathee made their home on a farm west of Cumberland, where they raised hogs for several years.

Kathee worked at Walnut Grove, was the manager of the Atlantic Medicine Chest and also served as the manager at the Atlantic Super 8. Kathee was involved in the Iowa Pork Producers as a member of the Porkettes, where she received the bell ringer award. Kathee was a leader of the Union Lucky Clovers (Union Leaders) 4-H club, superintendent of the pet show, and made the Best of Iowa cookbooks for the Cass County Fair. Kathee received a 4-H hall of fame award at the Iowa State Fair for her many years of service to 4-H. Kathee enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Garden Club, and also the manager of the Atlantic Farmer's Market. Kathee was also a part of the Elm Park Pinochle club and was a lioness.

Kathee enjoyed crafting which she did with Amy and Jerry, tole painting, sewing, quilting, canning, baking breads and making jams and jellies. Kathee was known as "the bread and jam lady" at the Atlantic Farmer's Market. Kathee also taught Sunday school and Bible School at St. John's United Church of Christ in Lyman for several years. Kathee enjoyed raising goats and she could always come up with a cute name for her babies that would be born.

Kathee was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Ida Johnson, and her Father-in-law, Robert McCrory.

Kathee is survived by her husband, Jerry; two children, Amy Thompson (Todd) of Bridgewater, IA and Bill McCrory (Dawn) of Atlantic, IA; three grandchildren, Jake Thompson (Danie Scacchi) of Bridgewater, IA, Kristyn Thompson and Fiancée Clay Mercer of Brooks, IA and Jeff Thompson of Fremont, NE; 2 great-grandchildren, Briggs and Mavryk Mercer of Brooks, IA; her brother, Roger Johnson (Verley) of Exira, IA; her sister, Nancy Plants (John) of Pella, IA; her mother-in-law, Ida McCrory of Atlantic, IA; sister-in-law, Joan Ackerman (Steve) of Marion, IA; brother-in-law, Kent McCrory of Atlantic, IA; two uncles, Earl Miller and Maynard Miller, and an Aunt Ruby Andersen; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2015, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic.
