Kathy Rae Bohlmann

Kathy Rae Bohlmann, the daughter of George and Mary Fredericks (Bohlmann) Bruhn, was born July 29, 1956, in Denison, Iowa and died July 24, 2014, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 57 years, 11 months, and 25 days. Kathy was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church south of Gray, Iowa. She attended elementary school at the Gray Consolidated School in Gray, Iowa. Kathy then studied at the Audubon Community Schools graduating from the Audubon High School with the Class of 1974. On May 10, 1975, she was united in marriage to Tom Larsen in Audubon, Iowa. Two children Jacob and Rhea were born to this union. Kathy was employed as a cashier and manager for over 36 years for various businesses which included the Country Store in Elk Horn, Iowa, The Salvation Army and Hy-Vee in Atlantic, Iowa, and Casey’s General Store in Exira, Iowa. She worked until she was forced to retire due to her failing health. She was diagnosed with cancer on January 29, 2012, and battled the disease courageously to the end. Kathy attended the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton, Iowa. She enjoyed crocheting, raising exotic birds, dachshunds, and Rottweiler’s. Next to spending time with her family her greatest joy was riding her Harley-Davidson. She enjoyed cruising the countryside and rode with ABATE on their annual “Toys for Tots” ride. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents George and Mary Bruhn; her sister JoAnn Villegas; and her brother Larry and wife Alice Bohlmann. Survivors include her son Jacob and wife Tisha Larsen and her daughter Rhea Larsen all of Atlantic, Iowa; her grandchildren Tyler Larsen, Hannah Larsen, Kayleb Schechinger, Spencer and wife Haley Andersen and Tanner Andersen all of Atlantic, Iowa, her great grandchildren Alexa Andersen, Alika Andersen, and Terra Andersen all of Atlantic, Iowa; her brothers and sisters David and wife Joene Bohlmann of Manning, Iowa, Jerry and wife Mary Bohlmann of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Rick and wife Tauna Bohlmann and Willis and wife Dawn Bruhn all of Audubon, Iowa, Orrin and wife Carol Bruhn of Irwin, Iowa, Susan and husband Michael Lapham of Audubon, Iowa, Edward and wife Veronica Bruhn of Santee, California, and Russell and wife Bev Bruhn of Audubon, Iowa; her brother-in-law John Villegas of Irwin, Iowa; her best friend since grade school Valerie Stetzel of Brayton, Iowa, her constant companions Suzie and Sammy; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin, Iowa at 2:00 P.M.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Monday morning, July 28, 2014, from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Steven Frock on Monday, July 28, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at the Brayton Lutheran Church in Brayton, Iowa.
