Kenneth Twidt

Kenneth Dale Twidt, 90, of Adair, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Kenneth was born July 4, 1927, in Adair, Iowa, to Nels and Anna (Jensen) Twidt. He attended school in Adair and graduated from the Adair High School in 1946.

On March 22, 1949, he married Lois Wedemeyer at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Adair, Iowa, where Kenneth had been a member his entire life.

He farmed outside of Adair until his retirement. In 1997, he and Lois moved into Adair. Kenneth was a lifelong resident of the Adair area.

He was a member of the Anita American Legion Post #210, a member of the Adair Community Foundation, the Farm Bureau and a past president of the Farmers Lumber Company in Adair.

He enjoyed gardening and cheering for the Iowa State Cyclones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Anna Twidt; brothers, Leonard, Harold and Norman; sisters-in-law, Doris Twidt and Geraldine Twidt; and a niece, Marilyn Wolfe

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Lois Twidt of Adair, IA; a son, Del (JoAnn) Twidt of Fountain City, WI; two daughters, Marcene (David) Oberholtz of Adel, IA and Marcia Spangler (David White) of Johnston, IA; a grandson, Erik Twidt of Fountain City, WI; a brother, Howard Twidt of Ankeny, IA; a brother-in-law, Gary Wedemeyer of Adair, IA; and numerous nieces and one nephew.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Adair, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 19, 2018, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Adair, IA, with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Adair.

Memorials may be left to the family’s wishes.
