Kenneth Wester

Kenneth Orval Wester, 79, of Atlantic, Iowa, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018, at Allen Place in Atlantic.

Kenny was born May 9, 1939, to Emerson and Cora (Sievers) Wester in Atlantic. He attended schools in Atlantic and graduated from Atlantic High School with the class of 1957. He joined the United States Air Force on December 1, 1961, and served until November 30, 1965.

After being honorably discharged from the service, Kenny lived in Ankeny, Iowa, for a few years and worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation. He then returned to Atlantic and worked at the bearing factory for many years until his retirement.

Kenny was a member of the Shriners for many years. In his free time he enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, driving, traveling, playing Bingo, and especially enjoyed playing Keno. Kenny had a very kind and gentle spirit and was always nice and friendly to everyone.

He is survived by his nieces, Linda (Brett) Fay of Lewis, IA, and Brenda (Derald “Bucky” Andersen) Buboltz of Atlantic, IA; his sister-in-law, Gladys Thomas of Atlantic, IA; great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Cora Wester and his brother, Eric Wester.

Visitation with family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, 2018, also at Hockenberry Family Care in Atlantic, Iowa, with burial in the Layton Township Cemetery in Walnut, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Shriners in Kenny’s name.
