La Donna King, age 88, of Adair, Iowa died Tuesday, April, 23, 2024 at Atlantic Specialty Care in Atlantic, Iowa.
Graveside Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at St. Clair Cemetery in Ute, Iowa with Pastor Jeff Keuning officiating.

La Donna Marie (Klaus) King was born on a stormy day on a farm south of Ute, Iowa on
March 8, 1936, the daughter of Ernest and Leona (Knutsen) Klaus. She was baptized, confirmed
and married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ute, Iowa.
La Donna attended grade school and high school in Ute where she graduated with honors
in May 1954. She married Vernon King on June 23, 1957 by her Uncle Reverend Martin Klaus.
They were blessed with 3 children, Shawn, Scott and Susan.
La Donna was a stay-at-home mom until her children were all in school. She worked at
World Wide Meat & Dubuque Pack until it closed. She then attended classes at Western Iowa
Tech in Denison and then worked with her husband at his insurance office until they retired.
They then moved to Adair, Iowa where they enjoyed their retirement.
La Donna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was happy and content with
the life she lived. She had a strong faith and was faithful in reading her Portals of Prayer and her
Bible. She loved reading, making embroidered quilts & pillow cases, watching sports, playing
cards, bingo, and making trips to the casino. She was always ready to go somewhere.
Preceding La Donna in death was her husband, Vernon King, her parents, Ernest &
Leona Klaus; her son, Shawn King; her siblings Milford (Edith) Klaus, Dorothy (Herald) Fisher,
Doris (Francis) Thompson, Wilma (Herb) Neumann, Orvan Klaus and Sharon (Herman) Swink;
her father-in-law and mother-in-law Eugene Byron and Harriet “Hatti” (Weed) King; her
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Glen Tanner, Evelyn Podey (Lloyd), Merlin (Dorothy) King,
Deloris Jessen, and Roy King.
She is survived by her son, Scott (Donna) King of Des Moines, IA and her daughter
Susan (Lenard) Lemke of Casey, IA; her grandchildren, Bryan King, Brittany Cooley, Carlen
(Katrina) Lemke, Waylen Lemke; her great grandchildren, Cameron, Christian, Carolyn,
Hannah, Masen; her sister, La Rue Tanner; sister-in-law Pearl (Ed) Schau and brother-in-law
Jack Jessen.
