Larry Barber, 73, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016, at his home.

Larry was born on the family farm near Anita, Iowa, on April 24, 1942, to Paul and Lois (Dorsey) Barber. He was the second of five children, with Rex being the first, Lola the third, Norma the fourth and Ruth the fifth. He was raised in Anita and attended country school, then finished school at the Anita High School graduating in 1960.

Larry married Connie Greenlee on December 23, 1960. From that union three children were born: Debbie, Brad and Bobbi Jo. They lived north of Anita. He then married Linda Gundy on November 15, 1985. Linda brought two children to the family, Pamela and Daniel.

You could always find Larry at the family farm. He worked there from the time he was out of school until 2000 at which time he went to work at Akin Lumber in Atlantic. After he retired, he spent a great deal of time helping with the sawmill and building furniture.

He loved spending his time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding Larry in death were his wife, Linda; his parents, Paul and Lois; sister, Ruth; and great-grand-daughter, Abby.

Surviving Larry are his children, Debbie (Francis) Hollinrake of Adair, IA, Bradley (Terri) Barber of Anita, IA, Bobbi Jo (Tom) Curtis of Webster City, IA, Pamela (Zach Fetter) Bissell of Omaha, NE and Daniel (Terri) Barber of Atlantic, IA; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Rex (Jannell) Barber of Anita, IA; sisters, Lola (Walter) Peterson of Adair, IA and Norma (Glenn) Hemphill of Griswold, IA; brothers-in-law, Charles (Petri) Gundy of Des Moines, IA, Dave (Deb) Gundy of Adair, IA and Tim Akers of Anita, IA; sister-in-law, Diane Madsen of Atlantic, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be a memorial service at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2016, with a visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care in Anita, Iowa.

A luncheon will be held at the Anita Legion Hall from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family will attend following the conclusion of the visitation at 7 p.m.
