LaRue Anne Wheelock, age 85, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. She was born on January 13, 1940, in Anita, Iowa, the beloved daughter of Murvin and Madeline Taylor.
On July 5, 1959, she married Arthur Edward Wheelock at the Wiota Catholic Church, where their love and faith flourished throughout their marriage. During her working years, LaRue dedicated herself to cooking at the Anita Elementary School, where she was known for her kindness, laughter, and care for the children she served.
A devoted Catholic, LaRue’s faith guided her life and relationships. She loved gardening, tending to her flowers and vegetables with patience and joy, and cherished the time spent camping—especially her yearly trips to the Iowa State Fair, a tradition she eagerly looked forward to. Above all, LaRue had a special love for children and found great happiness in caring for others. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her generous heart, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her.
