Leanna Kay Jensen

Leanna Kay Jensen, of Spring Green, Wisconsin formerly of Kimballton, Iowa, was the 5th of 14 children born to Edward Earl and Ida Marie Catherine (Hansen) Furne, on June 12, 1939, in Battle Creek, Iowa and died April 9, 2023, at the Greenway Manor in Spring Green, Wisconsin at the age of 83 years, 9 months, and 27 days.

She attended the Battle Creek Elementary School and went on to continue her secondary years of education until she decided to help raise her siblings and care for children in daycare. During her teen years, Leanna also worked at her brother’s Dairy Queen with her sister Marla.

On March 21, 1971, she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Jensen at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Iowa. They were blessed with three children Ronda, Corey and Aaron. After her marriage they lived on their farm in Kimballton, Iowa. Leanna had grown up as a “town girl” but soon learned the chores of a farm and helping out with raising the livestock to include cattle, pigs, Belgian horses and some chickens. Around 2014 they moved from the Kimballton area to Indianola where she stayed with her sons Corey, Aaron and his family. After Jerry died in July of 2017, Leanna moved to Wisconsin and stayed with Ronda while deciding on a senior apartment for herself. Two years later Leanna went to Greenway Manor for physical therapy and decided to stay.

She enjoyed playing cards and baking. But what Leanna enjoyed most was her family, and caregiving.

Preceding her in death was her husband Jerry Lee Jensen; her parents Edward and Ida Furne; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Christian “Pete” and Elena Jensen; her brothers Andrew, Richard “Dick”, Edward “Ed”, Frederick “Tiny”, Denny, Roger, Willy, and Kendall; her sisters Frances Gute and Marla Juhl; her brothers-in-law Virgil Juhl, Curtis Winther, and Larry Winans; her sisters-in-law Marge Furne, and Robin Furne; her nieces Cindy McCoy and Melanie Furne; and her nephew Brian Gute.

Survivors include her children Ronda and husband Steve Baugher of Spring Green, Wisconsin, Corey Jensen of Clive, Iowa and Aaron Jensen and wife Roxanne of Inez, Texas; her grandchildren Jennifer Baugher and husband Bud Yarnell, Spencer Baugher, and Zachary Jensen; her great grandchildren Colten and Aubree Vandine, Kinsley, Karson, and Winry Baugher; her sister Carla Winans; her brothers Wesley (Dianne) Furne, and Craig Furne; her brother-in-law LaVerne (Jan) Jensen; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
