Lenard Lemke

June 18, 1962 — October 12, 2025

Casey

Lenard Carl Lemke was born in Audubon on June 18, 1962, to parents Carl & Shirley Lemke. He passed away in a farming accident on Sunday, October 12, 2025, while doing what he loved most.

Lenard was baptized and confirmed at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Casey, Iowa. He was a true farmer all his life. He was a hard and dedicated worker. The life of a farmer is a physically demanding, unpredictable, and year-round job that includes a wide range of tasks depending on the season, from feeding livestock and repairing equipment to planting, harvesting, and managing finances. He loved what he did. Farming is not just a job, it’s a way of life. He was one of the last true small farmers. He loved the smell of fresh cut hay. He also enjoyed raising a big garden and canning the fruits of his labor with his wife and sharing with family and friends. Back in the day, he enjoyed raccoon, deer hunting and ice fishing. Lenard was happiest when his boys were around helping with the farm and talking shop and teaching his grandson about farming. Lenard was a very kind and generous man.

Lenard found his one true love Susan King and they married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Casey, Iowa on November 7, 1998. Together they raised their family and shared a great love for one another.

Lenard is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his sons, Carlen (Katrina) and Waylen; his two beloved grandchildren, Hannah & Masen; his mother, Shirly Lemke and siblings: Roxanne, Rosalie, Deb, Ed, Kyle and Carla. He is also survived by his brother & sister-in- law, Scott and Donna King.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Lemke; brother, Chris; his niece; Emma; his father & mother- in- law, Vernon & LaDonna King and two brothers-in-law, Shawn King & Kevin Power.
