Linda Barber

Linda Marie Barber, 67, of Anita, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, at her home in Anita.

She was born at home in Cass County, Iowa, on December 11, 1947, the daughter of Norman and Betty (Erickson) Gundy. Linda grew up in the Anita area. She attended school in Anita and graduated from Anita High School. Linda was united in marriage to Larry Barber on November 15, 1985, at the home of Lola and Bud Peterson.

Linda spent the majority of her life in the Anita area. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anita. Linda took great pride in her many years of volunteer services at the Family Crisis Center.
Above all, the greatest love of Linda's life was her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Betty Gundy; her parents-in-law, Paul and Lois Barber; her great-granddaughter, Abby Buck; her sister-in-law, Ruth Akers; and her brother-in-law, LeRoy Madsen.

Linda is survived by her husband, Larry Barber of Anita; her children, Debra (Francis) Hollinrake of Adair, IA, Bradley (Terri) Barber of Anita, Bobbi Jo (Tom) Victor of Webster City IA, Pamela (Zach Fetter) Bissell of Omaha, NE, Daniel (Terri) Barber of Valentine, NE; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Petri) Gundy of Des Moines, IA and Dave (Deb) Gundy of Adair, IA; sister, Diane Madsen of Atlantic, IA; brothers-in-law, Rex (Jannell) Barber of Anita, and Tim Akers of Anita; sisters-in-law, Lola (Walter) Peterson of Adair and Norma (Glenn) Hemphill of Griswold, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family strongly asks, in light of the unfortunate circumstances, for memorials to go to the family in lieu of flowers.

A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with visitation with the family following until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Hockenberry Family Care in Anita, Iowa.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Anita, Iowa, with a private family burial at a later time.
