Mabel L. (Budd) Henley

August 18, 1933 — May 24, 2013

Mabel LaRose Henley, the daughter of Harrison and Ida (Voster) Walker, was born August 18, 1933, at her parent’s home near Mallard, Iowa and died May 24, 2013, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 9 months, and 6 days. Mabel was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She attended Emmetsburg Community Schools graduating with the High School Class of 1952. Mabel then was employed doing clerical work for several businesses. Mabel was married to Gordon Budd in the Catholic Church. One son Dan was born to this union. They operated a motel in Corning, Iowa for several years. She moved to Audubon, Iowa and helped establish the Montgomery Ward Store. Mabel then was employed at the Friendship Home in Audubon before becoming the manager at the Holiday Motel in Audubon. She managed the Holiday Motel for many years then moved to Grimes, Iowa where she operated the Hy-Vee Handy Shop and also was the manager for an apartment complex. On March 23, 1992, she married Gary Henley at the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Urbandale, Iowa. They lived in Grimes and Mabel managed the apartment complex until she retired. They moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri for a short time, and then moved to Mercer, Missouri before returning to Audubon in 2003 so she could be closer to her grandson Cody. She enjoyed many wonderful years babysitting for her grandson. She also enjoyed spending winters in Texas. Mabel attended the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; her sister Marge Magee and husband Clarence; and her father-in-law Paul Henley. Survivors include her husband Gary Henley; her son Dan Budd and Cherry; her grandson Cody Budd all of Audubon, Iowa; her stepdaughters Cindy Henley and fiancé John Freeman both of Kansas City, Missouri and Cheri and husband Andrew Koke of Wichita, Kansas; her step grandchildren Carson and Katie Koke both of Wichita, Kansas; her brothers and sister, LeRoy and wife Marlene Walker of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Rita Farmer of Richland Heights, Texas, and Harold Walker of Mallard, Iowa; her mother-in-law, Jean Henley of Princeton, Missouri, her brothers-in-law, Dean and wife Janice Budd of Mallard, Iowa, Dean and wife Evelyn Henley of Mercer, Missouri, Andy and wife Betty Henley of Mount Pleasant, Texas, Jeff and wife Teresa Henley and Tracey and wife Sherry Henley all of Mercer, Missouri; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends on Tuesday evening, May 28, 2013, at 5:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Jud Stover on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, Iowa.
