Margaret Pringnitz

December 30, 1936 — December 27, 2013

Margaret (Peggy) Hadley was born December 30, 1936, the daughter of Josiah Arthur and Minnie Harriet (Robbins) Hadley in Canning Town, London, England, and passed away Friday, December 27, 2013, at her home in Anita, Iowa.

Margaret lived in London during World War II and fondly remembered her first taste of chocolate after the war and celebrating VE (Victory in Europe) Day on May 8, 1945. Since she was about 10 years old, Margaret had a pen pal in the United States. Her pen pal, June, later married Harry Pringnitz. June's brother-in-law, Homer, was stationed in Europe during his service in the United States Army. Margaret and Homer became acquainted and the couple married August 31, 1957, at St Mathias in London, England. Margaret came to the United States in November of 1957, and became an American citizen in August of 1962.
In London, Margaret worked as a bookkeeper, which was a very prestigious position in those days. After coming to the United States, Margaret lived in Clear Lake, IA, Boone, IA, and Anita, IA. Margaret always felt that Anita seemed the most like her real home after she came to the United States. She worked in nursing homes and restaurants, but the job she loved the most was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She loved singing to her granddaughters the "Attila the Hun" song and watching scary movies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Pringnitz; her parents, Josiah and Minnie Hadley; her sister, Catherine Coasby; her brother, Joe Hadley; her parents-in-law, Harry and Florence Pringnitz; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and George Schmock.

Margaret is survived by her daughters, Cathay and Paula Pringnitz of Anita; her son, Randy (Becky) Pringnitz of Leander, Texas; her granddaughters, Amber (Giovonnte) Morrow of Ankeny, IA, Lindy (Clark Wilson) Pringnitz and Jordan Pringnitz all of Anita, IA; her step-grandchildren, Justin Slagle, Robin Slagle and Devin Hyatt all of Leander, TX; her step-great-grandchildren, Jalen and Kylie Morrow of Davenport, IA; her special granddaughter, Shaley Winther of Anita, IA; her brother, Paul Hadley of Romford, England; her sister-in-law, Jackie (Don) Trca of Garner, IA; her brother-in-law, Harry (June) Pringnitz of Urbandale, IA; other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January, 2, 2013, at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home in Anita.
