Marie Hatfield

Marie Jean Hatfield, 81, of Massena, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at the Caring Acres Nursing and Rehab Center in Anita, Iowa.

She was born September 13, 1935, in Hannibal, Missouri, to John and Helen (Richards) Utterback. Marie attended schools in Hannibal, Missouri, and Independence, Iowa, and graduated with the class of 1954. She was united in marriage to Charles Hatfield on June 15, 1955. Charles was a career Navy man. Together they lived all over the United States before moving to Iowa in 1971. Marie worked at various jobs from waitressing to being a Certified Nurse Aide before retiring.

Marie loved spending time with her family, friends and her fur-babies. Being a huge fan of pro wrestling, she never missed a show on TV. She enjoyed puttering outdoors in her yard, going shopping and reading her Bible.

Preceding Marie in death were her husband, Charles Hatfield; her sons, Ricky and John; her parents, John and Helen Utterback; and her fur-babies, Oreo and Lucy.

Marie is survived by her children, Tracy (Cheryl) Hatfield of Kelso, WA, Dawn (David) Updike of Bridgewater, IA, Scott (Sharon) Hatfield of Staten Island, NY, Lance (Beulah) Hatfield of Des Moines, IA; her twin sister, Mary (Lewis) Hogue of Prescott, IA; brother, Jim Utterback of Lone Oak, TX; sixteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2017, at the Trinity Christian Church in Bridgewater, Iowa.

Interment of cremains will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Anita, Iowa.
