Mary Ruth Griggs, age 78, of Atlantic, IA, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Atlantic Specialty Care.
Mary Ruth Griggs was born on May 17, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri. She lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and a gentle spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
In July 2023, Mary moved to Atlantic, where she made her home at Atlantic Specialty Care. During her time there, Mary was deeply loved and cherished by the staff, who became like family to her. She found joy in her daily activities, formed meaningful friendships, and especially treasured her morning cappuccinos shared with her dear friends. Those simple moments brought her great happiness.
Mary was lovingly adopted by Stacy Van Aernam and her family, a blessing that surrounded her with devoted care and affection. Through this bond, Mary gained many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought light and laughter into her life. Her beautiful smile brightened each day, and her presence filled their hearts with love.
Mary is survived by her dedicated and loving staff at Atlantic Specialty Care, her guardian Stacy Van Aernam, and her family. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
