Mildred Mueller

Millie Mueller, 90, of Griswold, Iowa, passed away January 6, 2014.

Millie was born to Frank and Emma White on April 22, 1923, outside of Villisca, Iowa. She grew up on a farm with her two brothers and a sister. As a teenager, she was active in music and 4-H. Millie graduated from Villisca High School in 1940 and went on to work at the telephone office and later as an assistant to a doctor in Villisca. While working in there, she met Gilbert Mueller, and they were married on May 19, 1945, and began their life in Atlantic. Their only child, Jo, was born in 1952.

Millie was a stay-at-home mom for several years and then started making draperies at Claremar Fabrics in Atlantic. Later she helped Gilbert in their business, Mueller Reflexology, which remained open until Gilbert's death in 2011.

Church was always an important part of Millie's life. As a member of Central Church of Christ in Griswold, she directed Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years.

Millie was preceded in death by her husband, her father and mother, one brother and one sister. She is survived by her daughter, Jo Krueger (husband Hank) of Griswold; her grandchildren, Jeremy Burkum (wife Barb) of Atlantic and Rachel Burkum of Griswold; her brother, Bob White (Diane) of Hannibal, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.


A memorial service for Millie will be held at 10:30 a.m., January 11, 2014, at the Central Church of Christ in Griswold, with interment at a later date. A luncheon will follow the service.

Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers and will be received by the family and distributed according to Millie's wishes.
